He shared with me that they are set up a little differently at #howofwine. The shelves are set up “progressively”, meaning they don’t do them by grape or country necessarily. Instead, they have shelves setup more by style. This helps promote folks to go outside their lane as far as what they prefer, and try something familiar, but new. 🤌🏽
Kat is the owner of #howofwine and a true wine genius. 😲 She has been in the wine industry for 20 years. When she traveled to Spain and saw how much it brought people together, she ended up going into a masters program for grape growing and wine making. 🍇
Later on, she moved into an assistant wine maker position at a winery, and was teaching wine microbiology and chemistry at the Northwest Wine Academy, where she fell in love with teaching. 👩🏫
Kat and her family have been in Boise for 13 years and love it! When they were newly here she purchased a wine lab and did consulting for wineries. Basically she would test the analytics of the sugars, alcohol content etc so wineries can make informed decisions.
Kat has been in the masters wine program for 13 years, which is based out of London. There are only 420 people IN THE WORLD that have this designation ya’ll! 🤩 She just passed the tasting stage which is notoriously difficult (only 13% pass and only THREE in the US) - (make sure to congratulate her!)
She says “wine is a big topic, so it’s great to always be learning” 🤓
Needless to say, we are SO lucky to have House of Wine in Boise and even luckier to have Kat’s expertise locally.
